Celebration Mural, Rebirth, 2011
This was originally painted for the Multicultural Association Annual Celebration in 1989. It returned to be a part of the Membertou 400 Celebration in Halifax during the summer of 2010. Since then, it was re-painted for display at the Halifax International Airport as part of the 2011 Canada Games. This work spans over 20 years, and re-working the piece has been a wonderful experience. The Caribou is a newer figure, while the Hawk is an updated version of an older figure. The Moose has always been a constant, as well as the Man and Woman in traditional Mi'kmaq petroglyph style. It was an honour to be a part of the Canada Games celebrations, and I'd like to thank the airport for giving me this opportunity to have more people see my work up close.
